Some Absolutes: Very different from other course, you must never drag your feet over foreign language courses. Procrastination equals failure in foreign language courses so you must spend a minimum of 15 minutes each day and a minimum of 3 hours a week. Try and allocate all the spare time that you may have in pursuing the language but ensure that each session does not go one more than 45 minutes. Distribute your whole study into small units. It is compulsory to attend regular classes to pass especially if you have taken the learning seriously. Recapitulate your previous learning on a regular basis as this is good for you, for instance the vocabulary. Below are some suggestions to make the different parts of learning a foreign language easier and more successful.

Running through printed material: Focus on reading purely for comprehension and do not stop when you come across new words. Glance through the text book chapters every day taking one small section at a time.

Start expressing: Do not feel shy of mistakes, simply listen to others and start to communicate yourself. Practice speaking out loud on your own, in a group of friends studying the same foreign language and with your pets such as a dog or cat.

Noting it down: Know how to express yourself in writing everyday till it comes a part of you.

Request a friend to dictate some small paragraph of the language and then find out how much of it has been written correctly.

A Few Miscellaneous Assistance: Have good reasons for studying the foreign language and believe in them and develop a positive outlook towards your ambition. Know what you plan to learn and how you will get there successfully. {1.f you need help get it and do not be afraid to ask questions or ask for help for fear of sounding stupid, or being embarrassed.} 1.Do not feel shy or embarrassed to seek help when you want it. {2.Get audio tapes of the language and listen to them or make you own tapes and listened to yourself in order to perfect your pronunciation.} 2.One of the most successful ways to have correct pronunciation is to learn through repeated listening of audio tapes of others or those made by you using the language. 3.For building your vocabulary, try using flash cards which are made of different colors denoting genders or nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. 4.Practice in study groups and become good friends with some of your classmates because they can help you out.
