Important guidelines: It is not proper to postpone any foreign language course as it is a completely new kind of course. When you delay in a foreign language course, you can consider yourself a failure as this kind of courses require a minimum of 3 hours weekly and 15 minutes on a daily basis. Try and allocate all the spare time that you may have in pursuing the language but ensure that each session does not go one more than 45 minutes.

Segregate your study into several mini sessions. Class Attendance is mandatory and necessary in order to pass the course particularly if you are serious about learning the language. You could revisit your learning off and on and check what your have learnt in the past, for example the vocabulary. Below are some suggestions to make the different parts of learning a foreign language easier and more successful.

Comprehending the printed materials: Concentrate on reading for comprehension without looking up every unfamiliar word. Read a little bit of the language every day, especially the chapters in the textbook.

Start to communicate: Do not feel embarrassed if you make mistakes, simply hear what others are talking about and start to speak. You can have a good practice of the foreign language if you speak out loudly to yourself, to others in the same class or with your dog or cat at home.

Writing: Hone your writing skills everyday till you no longer fumble.

Take a dictation of a small portion of the language from a friend and then check it for correctness.
